Re-waxing a Barbour jacket
Well, that was pain in the arse and somewhat messier job than I thought it was going to be. Anyone got any suggestions for next year?

Get the jacket and the wax hot, that's my suggestion.
Hot jacket and hot wax is definitely easier. Going over the coat with a hairdryer at the end improves it too. But basically it is a fiddly messy job.

Don't wear it when its raining.

If you want it to look good, send it off to Barbour. It's one of those jobs that is far harder than it looks.

I have some waxed leggings which I rewaxed recently. Complete PITA.

I agree with the send it back to have it done properly, I lost a girlfriend when she rode pillion in a white skirt after I re-waxed mine. She went ape sh** and when I told her to rewax that only made it worser.
But Goretex lacks that 'country' styleee when I am out with the dog or shooting. I was thinking of going proofed tweed though........
Surely if you own a Barber jacket you have to say pwoofed tweed, Bertie Wooster style.

Holy thread resurrection!

Before starting off a thread titled, has anyone ever rewaxed a wax jacket, I thought I'd do a quick search and this popped up.

It's not a five minute job is it? But still a lot better than having wet shoulders.

Yep.
Melt the wax, apply with a 1” paintbrush or similar, work wax in. Warm hairdryer to help keep wax mobile. Somebody wearing it helps....

I've bought wax jackets then sent them back when i feel how er waxy they are! I did however keep the Fred Perry 'waxed' harrington i sent off for in February. Although waxed,it's only a light covering and feels quite dry not greasy. Will i ever re-wax it? Er no. When the time comes round to re-waxing it i'll have tired of it and i'll just buy another jacket instead.
