For many years a had a TZR250. Of all my bikes I liked it the most. There's just nothing like the noise, the smell, the way the engine just wanted to play near the redline.

I had the earlier LC, until it was nicked:angry: Power band at 6,000 rpm was unforgettable. Happy days.
I too had an LC. Mine didn't get nicked though as I kept it in the kitchen :smile: BF wasn't best happy but I told him it was either him or the bike and he soon shut up.

I had the one with the bikini fairing. Bought because the missus passed her test and I wanted something as a step up from 125cc for her.
I will never forget when she came back after her first ride on it. Wide eyes and stupid grin.
The the purpose of the power valve was to increase power at low revs, thus reducing the typical 2 stroke surge into the power band.
Good fun bike with decent power and light weight. Steering damper fitted as standard, which was a good thing.

From memory, the RD (air cooled) was followed by the RDLC (liquid cooled), which was followed by the YPVS (Yamaha power valve system?).

^^^ correctamundo. RD = Race Derived, or Rather Delicate.

I may well be wrong but the original air cooled RD's were themselves evolutions of the older YD and YDS two strokes?
