Rare footage of BentMikey??

Cycling along earlier in the week and when I reviewed my camera footage imagine my surprise when I spotted this keen road user in a recumbent position – Mikey is that you? – I think we should be told!

Out of interest, how did you get the light circle around 'BM'. Is this something easy to do, or do you have specialist software?

Hi Magnatom

There are a few ways to do that sort of thing – a little like blurring out faces and numberplates – think I pm’d you about it when you were having a little run in with a certain bus driver’s forum??

You can do it in packages like Final Cut and Premier Pro – I don’t think it’s possible in Windows Movie Maker – but “mid range” editing packages should be able to do it. Anything that supports layers and transparency.

Just out of interest, this was done in Premier Pro CS3. I put a black circle over the C5 and did a very, very basic track (so it follows the c5 over time). Then I inverted the circle (so that I had a totally black screen with just a circle in the middle showing the C5 – like the beginning of a Bond film). I then lowered the transparency of the shape layer so you can partially see through the black to the footage below. Took about 5 minutes. Not very professional but does the job!

Premier Pro (now on CS4) is around £500 but I’m sure you can get older versions second hand at a considerable discount.

That's what I thought. No cash at the moment, and not likely to be for a while (especially if I want a new bike!).

Anyway, all of my commutes are event free at the moment so I've nothing to post. I can't understand what has happened, but I'm not complaining!

Aaahhhh.. C5's.. Working in the West End around the time they were produced. I saw a few being used by couriers. The last time I saw one was at a music conference in 1995, being used by a Record Label during their presentation. Funny things weren't they?

When I was at Culdrose one of the Senior Docs had a C5 and i had a Trice - it used to blow peoples minds !
