I've done a several of these 90s machines now, they look great when done. I like the garish colours though.

I like those a lot. The top one appears to be one of the 501 frames, so could have been a Moonrun, Highlander, or Kandara amongst others.
The bottom one looks like it started life as an Ascender, a pretty basic 18-23 hi-tensile bike but those 70 degree frames ride very well IMHO and are especially forgiving on rough urban tarmac.

Top one was a Raleigh Mirage, decals were scruffy when I got it so were removed, the original paint was spotless. 300 LX group. You are correct, it was a 501 frame.

Bottom one was a Raleigh Gritstone, think it was Hi-Ten (no 18-23 sticker) fitted with Altus CT90 group. Made a funky single speed. Purple forks were original.
