Hey, I sold all my old bikes and bought a super sexy new one....

....only problem is I've read so much crap about rain online that I'm practically afraid to bring it out when it's even just a bit wet 'cause I have this image in my head now of the bike dissolving beneath me when I cycle through a puddle!

Should I save the £ and buy a second bike or should I tighten up and get on with it?

Thanks folks

Is your bike made of paper mache ? Of course the rain won't damage it, you just need to remember to dry it off, use good lube/ grease.

Rain will not harm your bike however precious it is as long as you look after it properly.
After a rainy ride give the bike a bounce to get most of the rain off, then give it a quick rag it down.
Keep everything clean and lubricated and you should have no problems.

your chain can rust up pretty quickley after rain but I just dry my bike off straight away, it dosent take long and I have a spray called anti rust that repels the water but unlike wd40 it lubricates it really well .i do that every time it rains and once a week regardless ( just simple maintenance )

Any carbon fibre will dissolve on contact with water and will melt in the summer. It's a well known fact.

It'll be fine! Bikes are made from the same stuff they make airliners, space shuttles and fighter planes from.

The only stuff that seems to oxidise is magnesium (and only very lightly - on the surface), but as none of the big manufacturers are currently including this in their line-ups, chances are very slim that your bike will have any. I just have to hear 'magnesium', and my mind gets transported back to those experiments in the school chemistry lab !

What did you buy by the way, so we can all have a laugh compliment you earnestly on your choice ?

Just a quick note.... please, for the love of all that is Holy - don't use WD40 as a lube. It isn't one! You may as well use spit for all the good it does.

Did it dissolve?

Not quite but the muddy water and things that splashed up my back will NOT come out of it now theres pics in my thread on here lol washed it 4 times lol, soaked it, vanish spray all over it the lot and no its not coming out lol, it dissolving would of been easier as it wouldnt be that inbetween of do i wear it anyway or do i bin it and buy more lol
