Cycling in the wet is the number 1 worse thing for me, just ahead of a strong headwind. Saturdays is our club social ride day so be a shame to miss it but I'll make a call in morning as to if I bother or not. Plus after such a long dry spell good chances roads be extra slippery.

Rain really doesn't bother me much, once I'm out. It does make me more reluctant to go out in the first place if it is already raining
Yeah, there are of course times I'm out and get caught in it which happens. However, it's unusual for me to start a ride if wet certainly if tipping it down.
Not so much discomfort etc, more on safety side and frankly it's not as much fun which ultimately is why I ride. It's a pleasure thing or supposed to be, not a chore.

As an ex-postie, you have to learn to accept the rain and other weather. But for me and cycling, life is too short to go for a ride on a nice bike when it's raining or the roads are still wet, meaning a load of gritty water will go all over the drivetrain and accelerate wear that needs cleaning off. When there's a turbo set up.

When I was trying archery we had a long dry summer
the arrows that missed didn;t stick in the ground as usual and skidded along for many yards
as I was rubbish at it this meant I spend ages looking for arrows in long grass!!

Everything bone dry here, with a LOT of dust. Maximilian the MTB is a dull shade of puce compared to his usual bright cadmium red. Though the water level in the drains is very high, more so than usual, so they've been busy pumping water into the system at Denver Sluice every time there's an incoming tide.

The Welney Washes are almost completely clear of water from what I saw from the train as it crossed them over the past couple of days. Just a couple of small ponds visible, but no doubt the ground is still saturated as they seem to have been under water for all of this year and most of last.

I haven't crossed the washes for a little while, but the warning board in Littleport hasn't been turned on for about six weeks or so.

yesterday there were periods of heavy rain during the day. seen a break in it after work and decided to go out. half way round i started to cycle into some dark cloud and soon was in a horrendous downpour , hailstones and all.

Here it rained overnight
but nothing today in spite of the Met Office warning of 30-40% chance
the time when it is even more likely has been moving later and later all day as well
looking at the radar the main wetness is moving over the West of Wales and up the Irish sea and missing us

The rain started in showers here Sunday afternoon but it was dry again yesterday but that didn't last long its been torrential at times today!
