How easy is it do get along and race? I know you need to hold a license or something but I'm not sure exactly what I have to do. I would like to have a race before the season's out.

Easy enough.. I am racing via TLI

not a member, just eol entry on line..
depends on your age.. if you are young then probably via your local club with a good racing section is best route
if you are over 40, then there is the LVRC..

Wet conditions
Very wet prior
Short circuit - 1km - surface a bit unforgiving

Puncture as soon as I drew up to the start line.
Changed tube and joined on circuit for 30 mins but kept out of the way.
The field was quite small anyway due to the weather.

Riding in the wet has to be said is not the most fantastic fun..

oh well .. hoping for drier times.
It is far too late in the season to be even thinking about being competitive, so just treated this as a glorified training session.
Still it was well organised and ok for a couple of quid.

Rain rain rain. The BBC have had to rethink their hot hot summer predictions too.

Punctures are crap. Well done for getting back on with it though. Was it fast?

Fast.. well yup I took 30 secs off changing a tube time....

well I wasnt going to mix it when I rejoined and my racing bud had someone fall off in front of him so that and the piddlin rain messed up his efforts.. so we did a training sessh.... the main bunch were prob doing just over 25 26 pushing out of the corners then easing up a touch.. but as it was such a short circuit, positioning was everything, otherwise you got left in the concertina effect , pushin hard to catch up then you're in the next corner still out of position.

You could not trust it around the corners however.

Too right.. had to come out of retirement to answer!
No cat as such.. limiting myself to tli and some pretty good locally organised road series.
As a 'vet', too old and knackered nowadays and far too mild mannered to have gut wrenching speed and a cruel streak to win
but road racing does get under your skin like TTing never can (imo) I better add that

I am organising some training sessions tho 'for the lead into the Cheshire Cat at end of March .. aim for a quick time, once the bitch of the first 30 mile or so is got out of the way.
