Sad. Not exactly a teetotaller, though...

Iron Maiden's first warbler has been found dead at home age 66. Not yet been said what finally got him.

R.I.P. feller.

He had a life full of excess, which seems to have caught up with him. Listening to Iron Maiden (the album) now, Iron Maiden (the song) just started as I opened this thread.

Saw Running Free on TOTP's in 1980. That weekend I went straight down to the record shop to buy it.
Still have the record to this day.
I'm another fan here who prefers the Di'anno era Maiden.
The track Killers imvho is one of the very best Heavy Metal songs put down on tape.
Met him twice and to be honest he was an arse. Very unfriendly. But as well documented he had many personal demons. He never got over his sacking from the band and the fact he never did reach the heights of stardom he really deserved.
A sad day for Heavy Metal and music in general.

If someone said I could only listen to one Iron Maiden album for the rest of my life, it would be Killers.

Me too.

Can't disagree with that.

The thing that made Maiden stand out from all the other British metal bands back then was they had what appeared to be a punk for a frontman... well, that and really good cover art.
