R.I.P. John Sykes

Ex Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, and Tygers of Pan Tang axeman extraordinaire sadly had at 65 from cancer.

Another one of my childhood heroes gone.

My very first gig was Tygers at the old Marquee Club in London 1981. Front of stage stood in front of John. He literally blew me away. Saw him with Thin Lizzy a couple of times too.
So very nearly got to work with him when he signed to Golden Robot Records but they fell out and he terminated the deal.
An exceptional talent, a sad loss.

Aye, an incredible guitarist, and supposedly a nice thoughtful bloke to boot.

I had the privilege of working with Lizzy and Blue Murder, nice guy mostly and remember doing some MTV stuff with him. Great musician.
