Very sad. The fags caught up with him in the end Loved Twin Peaks: The Return, although ep 18 is still baffling.

An absolute legend and an icon of cinema.

Blue Velvet was the first of his films I saw, and I was far too young for it so didn't really appreciate it at the time, but it has stuck with me and is one of my all time favourites. There's a wonderful theory out there that it's a kind of prequel to Twin Peaks, which kind of makes sense in a very warped way.

He wasn’t a well man anyway, and had breathing issues. But apparently he had to evacuate his house due to the LA fires.

This, plus the poor air quality from the smoke appears to have caused his health to deteriorate.

RIP....one of the greats !
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Yes, I have emphysema from my many years of smoking. I have to say that I enjoyed smoking very much, and I do love tobacco - the smell of it, lighting cigarettes on fire, smoking them - but there is a price to pay for this enjoyment, and the price for me is emphysema. I have now quit smoking for over two years. Recently I had many tests and the good news is that I am in excellent shape except for emphysema. I am filled with happiness, and I will never retire.

I want you all to know that I really appreciate your concern.

Love,

David

Bugger; really sorry to hear this as I'm a big fan of his work

His legacy will certainly ensure he's not forgotten in a hurry!
