My favourite movie of his is Night Moves, from 1975, where he plays a private detective. Great actor. RIP.

He was a good actor, but I don't remember him in much. He was in Unforgiven, The French Connection, and The Poseidon Adventure Adventure.

He was in a lot more than just those.

As listed above by various people, Mississippi Burning, several Superman films, Bonnie & Clyde.

Then also Get Shorty, A Bridge Too Far, Reds that I remembers seeing him in, and going on for a hundred others that I've either not seen or didn't remember.

Great performance in “The Birdcage” as the conservative senator.
So funny when his family had to be smuggled out of the drag club at the end.
He was in a dress and blond wig singing “we are family” looking very uncomfortable.
Told his driver who was waiting outside to meet him at a certain place in 10 mins, he responded something like, “Lady, not for a million bucks”.
Brilliant actor, so sad.

I'll have to watch Bat 21 this weekend in his honour.

I haven't seen a lot of him in films as mainly into science fiction but recently I started watching Invaders again and I know he is in at least one episode of that. Just can't seem to get into political or conspiracy movies, or police and military movies but do occasionally watch a western or two.

Apparently, it was a gas leak in their house .

It's just been said on a reliable tv/radio news source that carbon monoxide poisoning has been ruled out following a check of their home for signs of the deadly gas. It also said that both bodies were almost mummified due to the probably two weeks time lapse from their deaths to being found and the very dry air conditions over the last few weeks, resulting in partial mummification rather then severe decomposition which requires significant humidity to take place. One of their German Shepherd dogs was found dead close to the bodies of Gene Hackman and his wife, while their other two dogs were found alive in outside kennels, albeit severely dehydrated and very hungry! 🤔
