Quieting a Turbo

Has anybody got any tips for quieting a turbo (apart from buying a new trainer or stop using it ;-) )

turbo specific tyre makes a difference to noise level. You could also use a mat underneath it.

No, quite the opposite in fact, pedal faster until the frequency of the sound is so high as to be outside the range of human hearing...

I wear (properly fitting) in-ear headphones and listen to MP3/radio or sometimes just put earplugs in. I tried the 'turn up the music' method but I just ended up with a headache.

Is it an older Turbo with just a fan, or a hydraulic / magnetic one ? If an older turbo fan model, then they are very noisy - I use mine in the garage it's that bad.

Its a Tacx Speedmatic (magnetic). I personally don't find it too loud but some of the family do :-( Maybe I should set it up in the garage.
