never having tried folders, it always looks to me to be a tricky game just trying to get the first side on, obviously not, but my little brain just cant get round the idea.

It makes more sense when you get your hands on one in person. once it's "opened up", most of the ones I've used have naturally held a shape resembling a beaded tyre anyway.

The new tyres arrived today and have been fitted. I can confirm that they do unseat a bit easier than the tyres they replace, not quite falling off the rim but better, and I am fairly confident they will be manageable by the roadside even in less than ideal conditions.
Just for completeness, the new 700x32c Randonneur Pro tyre measures exactly the same width as the 28c Continental tyre it replaces but is approx 1mm taller, probably thanks to thicker rubber and puncture protection? Hopefully these will also be more resistant to punctures than the Continentals that haven't been good for me so far.

Tempting fate I know but just coming up to 300 miles on the new Randonneurs, including some really rough MTB type riding, and no punctures yet. The previous Continentals suffered 3 or 4 punctures in just 460 miles. Long may this improvement last.....
