It's too much. i think i'm more or less settled on the specialised... after all this! the giant is 11.6kg whereaz the specialised is 9.7kg... and i cant afford any more than 400 atm... once i'm trained up more i will upgrade to something more posh... around the 800 quid mark maybe.

looks very nice and hope you enjoy it and have some good rides

There isn't much difference in the gear rations between a 30/42/52 12-26 and a 34/50 compact on an 11-26

The 30 ring on a 26 sprocket is 1:2.2 on the 23 Sprocket is 1:2.6

The 34 Ring on a 26 Sprocket is 1:2.5.

So in essence the triple gives you one extra easier gear.

dont follow the crowd chose the one you like,

ahh i wasnt following the crowd, just a little bit fearful of the double being too hard but if it is I'll just have to grin and bear it and change the chainset... i'm going for the specialised coz i'm tired of deliberating  and the giant weighs a lot more  thanks everyone!

the maddest solution will be one that involves buying a £400 bike and changin the fork or the chainset. Buy one, leave it alone, and sell it when you can afford a better one, or keep it AND buy a better one
