quick advice please, buying a bike tomorrow...

giant... Not sure about this one but don't particularly have a reason...

claud butler... and i really like the look of this one, mostly for the sora groupset and carbon forks.
http://www.bikeoutlet.co.uk/products/Claud_Butler_Milano_Gents_2010-1240-21.html

If anyone can help me choose between the 2 i will be very grateful... at the moment im wanting the claud butler, but if i can be persuaded to go for the giant then thats fine, I like the carbon forks on the claud, and the groupset etc... the only worry is frame weight... if it will weigh considerably more than the giant then thats a big turn off... cant find anywhere on the internet with the weight stats for the claud... around 11kg is reasonable if you ask me. I'm very limited with money as i have a max of 400 to play with which is a shame but beggars cant be choosers

If anyone has any other suggestions for bikes that dont go over 400 and are better than these two then please feel free to help  but as far as i can tell that claud butler is a bargain!

Where are you buying from?
Personally I think the Claud Butler looks slightly nicer, but spec wise I don't think there's much between them.

i ve just got the giant defy 2 2 weeks ago and i think it great . very fast , very comfy( i do have lower back problems ) looks lovely, rides like a dream .the one draw back on the giant bikes are the stems are a bit long so if you test ride one get them to put shorter one on .i know you said money limit is £400 but ash cycles is doing the defy 2 for £659 i know thats alot more money but it is alot more bike . my limit was £600 but thought it worth that bit more . hope this useful

after me pestering you in chat, i think im set on the giant  i'll just buy carbon forks next month and i'll be set.

No, buying the carbon forks aftermarket and having them fitted will cost a fortune - much better to wait and spend the extra cash on a complete bike that requires no (or only minor) mods.

Plus putting carbon forks on that bike would be like putting a spoiler on a fiat panda

Now i'm really stuck! hahaha due to popular demand on here and chat i've cancelled out the claud butler... now its between

the giant...http://www.fudgescyclestore.com/index.php?p=112482&o=112482
The specialized...http://www.mcconveycycles.com/store/product/10654/specialized-allez-16-silver-58cm/
and the felt...http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop/Bikes/Road+Bikes/Felt+Bikes/Felt+F95+Road+Bike_FELT-F95.htm

they all seem good now... the frames look lighter than the CB although there isnt a weight spec on the internet for the CB so im just lost as to which is best now! there isnt much difference in spec so the only way to differentiate would be carbon forks or not... and how heavy is the frame... any advice?

you need to decide if you need a triple. As said, I personally would if I was cycling in the Dales.

I suppose a triple would be better regardless but the giant triple doesnt come with carbon forks and looks much heavier than the felt... haha! i must be really tiring with my questions etc  all the doubles seem to be lighter and the triples heavier :/

It's too much. i think i'm more or less settled on the specialised... after all this! the giant is 11.6kg whereaz the specialised is 9.7kg... and i cant afford any more than 400 atm... once i'm trained up more i will upgrade to something more posh... around the 800 quid mark maybe.
