I don’t know how to break this, but there have been some 2700 recorded deities in human history. I’m happy to believe in all 2700, on the principle that if the body of opinion which considers belief enough to bring something into existence is correct, it will make ‘judgement day’ very interesting.

Humans do like to make fairytales up.

Yup - we like to have explanation for things

and, for some reason, are quite happy to settle for totally ridiculous ones as long as the person putting it forward is the right sort of person

which also explains al lot of politics and wars as well as gods- the three of which are not totally unconnected!

Why are there no left handed emoji?

I'm sick of doors that bite me, tools that I have to adapt to, mugs I cannot read the witticisms without contortions and so on.

We are an oppressed minority.
Rise up brothers and sisters, you have only your fingernails to lose.

Have you ever noticed how "ergonomic" means "right-handed"?

When we finally rise up and exact retribution, the right-handers are all going into concentration camps.

That's a bit cruel.
I can choose my religion, political party etc but I didn't choose to be right handed.
OK I accept that right handed people are better looking and more intelligent but that's not my fault.

No, they have to live with left handed scissors!
That's a start, I'm working on next steps.

MAny years ago I somehow ended up with some left handed scissors

luckily they had brightly coloured handles so it was easy to tell them from other ones in the house
Has no problem with them once I realised

my ex "just couldn;t" use them - it was too difficult

Ended up giving them to someone who was left handed as he had been moaning about his breaking

The only right-handed lathes I've seen pictures of date back to the mid-19th century. They were all British, though.

Your generic Myford or Colchester style lathes are left-handed, as are almost all others.

Normally, the only control at your right hand is the tailstock lever or handwheel. Every other control is on the left.

Most modern ones have detachable magnetic controls, so that they can be accessed safely.

They have always previously been n the left because that is where the headstock is, for right handed use. Having the headstock and controls at the left hand side of the lathe does NOT make the lathe left-handed.

When using the lathe, it is very difficult indeed to do so in a left handed manner. All the left hand does is hold the tool steady against the rest. The right hand does all the work. I've seen people using the lathe without using the left hand at all.
