I'm a big fan of the Marathon/Spa Cycles video. If you get the tyre bead right down into the well of the rim, you get more slack to get the last bit of the tyre on. It works well with all tyres, not just the awkward stiff ones like Marathons.

From puncture happening to me riding off with a smile - 10 minutes. So, i feel a lot more confident now. I am looking to get some new tyres as the ones that are on are the standard Giant tyres.

Thank you all!

Glad that helped you! I think the real trick those reversed tyre levers!

You can bet I'll be trying that out next time I get a puncture.

One more thing.....if you use three tyre levers to get the tyre off, put all three of them under the bead at about 3" intervals before you lever them down and hook them onto the spokes. If you insert and lever the first one down, you may find it blooming hard to get the second and third lever under the bead.

How many times do I have to post this to get the message heard? TALC is the answer. It's the best natural lubricant for sticky rubber. Keep your tyre beads well dusted with talc and your problems will be over.

TALC TALC TALC!

Got it?

No no no, the best way is to spot a nice rounded pile of pine needles and lie down on it for a nap, then realise a few minutes later that you have lain down on a wood ants' nest.
