Hiya BC dont go mad with pressures as I did, I think I was a bit extreme in maxing them out to 145psi according to others on here, i've reduced it to 110 rear and 100 front on the Krylions i've got on at present and its a smoother ride. As for Mercury we probably average a steady 15 mph over the ride and cover 50/60 miles with a cafe stop and they never leave anyone off the back. There is a faster group that go out aswel but I'm led to believe their a bit more competative over shorter distances. Seem a good bunch and very welcoming and its only £20 a year for the privelage

Well good luck with whatever option you go with on the tyre front and hope you find the right combo, nothing worse than constant punctures mate

As for Mercury dont worry about feeling like a part time member, they have over 180 members and the few rides i've been on hasnt always been the same faces. I wont be there for the next 2 sunday club runs as I follow the Reds and we have 2 sunday games now which puts paid to my biking

There are a couple of riders with flats that i've seen :bicycle:

I hate punctures as well  My recommendation is to use Bonti Hardcase Lites...slick, reasonable light, durable and in my opinion bomber puncture resistant :becool: Add to that they can be had on the internet at a very reasonable price

True, their grip in the wet is average, but what slick tyre can be used for flying round corners at lightning speed in the rain?

The come in 700 x 23, 25 and 28's. Use 'em on two of my bikes.
