I'm not sure what clothes you would mean. People of every age seem to wear lycra these days. Personally I wear (not cycle-specific) ronhill trackster trousers and a Madison jersey.

Regarding shoes, if you want a more traditional leather shoe the Dromarti or Quoc Pham are brands to look for I should think.

Or with less silly prices there's Exustar, for example:

or Shimano do a lace-up shoe, the MT22 which is good value (and my favourite):

That isn't a mature gentleman - it's a tragic hipster.

I admit the model is not mature but I thought the style was more appropiate to my advancing years. I wouldn't dream of posting a pic of myself so as not to frighten animals and small children. To the op I appreciate the links to the shoes but none of them are brogues. I will however investigate them more closely if brogues are not forthcoming so thankyou

joking aside is there something like the dromarti at a reasonable price? most shoes look like they have been designed for olympic atheletes. One look at me and atheletic is not the phrase that comes to mind. I ususlly ride in rohan ultra lightweight walking trousers and something a little less sporty looking might be nice as a cycling top.

If you like the breeks and stockings try Hoggs of Fife. Gentlemens Outfitters will sort you out with country clothing but will charge you eye-watering amounts compared with online country sportswear outlets:the following are retailers stocking Hoggs clothing. I can vouch for its value for money and wear at the pricepoint.

What's wrong with Lycra, I'm nearly 60

on you probably nothing. on me well suffice to say I have recently put on a fair bit of weight due to the medicines required to treat an illness. over it now but lycra and me is not a good look at the moment
