Yummy. In return let me share the following butchers with you. SW London chain of South African butchers shops owned by a friend of mine. Delicious, high quality, spicey, personally sourced meats. The boerewors are the best. I've been camping with him and he always brings loads of stuff for the B-B-Q.

Oh yes! Lived in SA and properly made beorewors is just the best - although not for breakfast.
I need to order some now, and some kudu biltong.

A proper breakfast must have black pudding, nothing goes better with fried egg yolk. However when I was in Fort William I had a fried round of Haggis in place of the pudding and it was really rather good.

Barnet,
Sounds interesting but I don't know what bubble and squeak is.

Bubble is leftover potatoes and cabbage fried until a bit crisp at the base. boiled, mashed or roast will all surfice. You can also add onion, leftover swede, parsnips, anything you like really, a splash of port or sherry works well if you fancy it. Yum Yum :hungry:

Sounds great. I'm going to try that.

Maple syrup not that common in UK and a bit expensive. Cant see anything above I would not have for brekky though. (Going on a heavy ride would not work with some of the recipes above so would have to revert to porridge)

Boxing Day Bubble is the culinary highlight of Christmas for me.  Christmas lunch veg leftovers with the right amount of mash, fried in goose fat, I'm looking forward to it already

I used to work at an outlying station, and there was a local butcher who would do us a plated breakfast for 50p. We used to take it back to the nick where the cleaner would cook it for us. We would add a tin or two of beans but the breakfast always had
Sausages,
bacon
calf's liver
kidney
lamb cutlet
bit of frying steak
black pudding
eggs
mushrooms
tomatoes

The cleaner would fry white bread in the grease at least two slices each. We used to start shift at 0600, and we'd sit down to brekky at between 9 and 10 o'clock, so you were ready for it by then!

my dad's fry ups are the best. His butcher gets the bacon smoked at the local kippery and cuts it extra thick for dad
