Sausages baked in the oven, you won't get better. Not very cost effective for one person though, but if you're cooking for 4 or more, it's worth the (lack of) effort.

I've just forwarded that to my (joint) boss who sits opposite me.

"That list is like a text version of a Marks and Spencer advert!" she laughed.

Cool boss, if you can send her stuff from Cyclechat! I used to run a syndicate to distribute O'Hagan's sausages up here, but had to stop because of a few persistent non-payers. This is what people who make sausages should look like.

Yummy. In return let me share the following butchers with you. SW London chain of South African butchers shops owned by a friend of mine. Delicious, high quality, spicey, personally sourced meats. The boerewors are the best. I've been camping with him and he always brings loads of stuff for the B-B-Q.

Mmmmm - good person to take on a camping trip! O'Hagan is South African, and also does a splendid Boerewors. He was also the subject of a fabulous episode of Blood on the Carpet, called Sausage Wars.

Plaice fillet*, scrambled egg, beans, tomato and bread. Chips or fried new potatoes if you are really greedy.

*or sole or turbot or mussels.

Non non non non non, none of this French breakfast mullarkey....

I forgot about the tomato but putting beans on a fried breakfast is something that has only started happening recently. I speak as lifelong Ulster resident, and something of a fan of fried breakfasts.

I've had beans with fry ups for over 30years now... nothing recent about it (or is it all relative?

)

Don't know about anyone else, but I want breakfast at TheClauds! Sounds yummy.
Just eaten lunch, read that and now I am starving again!

I think beans are an English thing.

baked beans are not good. Mushy peas are best

as in

sausage
egg
bacon - streaky
grilled toms
mushy peas
lamb chop
kidneys
bubble and squeak - this should contain half cabbage, just under half potato, and onion
brown sauce

tea

It has come to my attention that those of you on the fringes of the empire (i.e. outside Northern Ireland) are not preparing your breakfasts in the correct manner! How can you live without potato bread and soda bread!
No point calling it a full English breakfast when it is not complete.

The Ulster Fry is the official standard by which all others are judged and it is:
Bacon (Irish)
Sausages (Irish pork)
Fried egg
Potato Bread (at least 4)
Soda Bread (at least 4)
Tea
Brown Sauce
Black Pudding (optional)

No beans?!?!?!??!!!!!

Does no one else have tomato and mushrooms with their fry ups??? Strange!

As for the soda bread etc, all that bread would be too much imo, just toast is enough

Yes

Ideal would be:

Sausage, Bacon, Fried Egg (one or more!)
Baked Beans, grilled tomato
Fried Bread, fried potatoes, fried mushrooms
black pudding, hash browns....

Sure i've missed a few things.

I just had the first full "fry" in a long time, it went:

Grilled back bacon
Grilled sausages
Fried mushrooms
Fried eggs
Beans
Toast
Brown sauce
Tea.

It was quite an effort for one, my wife didn't fancy anything this morning. The sausages were cack, waitrose own premium ones, but they were dry and grainy textured. Back to my butchers I think.

No diddly no no, these have to be eaten with Faggots for tea/dinner (depending where you live). Mushy peas for brekky will just throw our body clocks out completely

Quite right. Beans? That would be the vegetarian option and could no longer be called Ulster Fry.
