Nope. On the old drink tins you pulled the ring and the small triangle of aluminium which I circled in red pulled off too so you could then drink your drink. The version on a sardines tin opens the whole top of the tin.Isn't the OP's ring pull still used on pet food cans and sardine tins and the like? Genuinely puzzled........

Did the IrnBru taste okay?On tidying a hitherto untouched bit of the train the other day there, I found an old can of Irn Bru, best before 1st of March 1992.
It had a modern opening ring on top.
It'll be kept along with the rest that we have found, including old packets of Tudor Crisps.
