Oh deary me....

I have a sneaking fondness for some of the less outre aspects of prog. But King Crimson, dear god, what an arrogant bunch of tossers...

I have two albums by Egg. They were a three piece - keys, bass, drums - something like ELP but less flashy. The keyboard player was Dave Stewart, also of Hatfield and the North. I still like their stuff, especially the second album (I think), "The Civil Surface".

I was a little surprised that they were featured in tonights programme as they were very low down the prog scale of fame, despite their musical ability.

Damn, Missed it.
No idea about Egg, but "In the Court of the Crimson King" is a fave album here.
I fear an iplayer session is in order.

Not that I am aware !

Right then, time to come out of the closet - I'm showing Genesis (Selling England By The Pound and Lamb Lies Down On Broadway), Yes (The Yes Album and Fragile), Crimbos (Red, and Court of...).
Hmmmmm, I've just got a borrowed vinyl of Brain Salad Surgery. A copy of Trick Of The Tail and more Hawkwind (prog or not, discuss) than you can shake Stacia's drooping breasts at.

Oh and Lucky Leif And The Longships by Robert Calvert. Trump or joker?:B)

I confess to Curved Air (always omitted from the prog rock pantheon for some reason), Crimson, then it was all the Canterbury lot - Caravan, Soft Machine, Hatfield and the North, Matching Mole - Egg etc. Mahavishnu Orchestra blew me away after that and led me off into more of a jazz direction, especially late 60's/70's British jazz (but now going off topic so I'll stop there).

There, I feel better now that's off my chest.
