Yes as I have spds so its me that put them on there.
I am personally at a loss what to do. She is on verge of giving up.

Then she should go back to flats.
There is no point in spoiling the fun because of clipping in problems and no law that says you must use clipless. Much better to get to know her bike, develop her riding style and the type of riding she likes to do, without worrying about her feet. Fiddling with the pedals can always come later.

The section of the sport that involves the most clipping in and clipping out is cyclocross so perhaps you could look at the pedals used there. Personally I find eggbeaters the easiest to get in and out of.

As in first part of the post she has had accident basically means movement in her foot is limited. Means clipped in or toe clips is her only real option for cycling. She would not be able to use flats thanks for suggestion though.
