Hi

I recently sent my rim back to ribble and recieved it back today due to dirt inside the freehub, which shouldnt be happening as i have only had my bike for 2 months.

All seemed ok, until i started to spin the wheel whilst it was on my bike then it started making a grinding noise again? Opened the bearings up and they have been greased back up so the only thing i can think of is they havent took the freehub off and cleaned it up!!! Angry!!

Now i have developed another problem with my innertube, ive gone through 3 innertubes tonight, and ive fixed 2 of them, still it blows a hole in it? Ive absolutely no idea what this can be, i have done the obvious and ran my hand around the tyre, took the tyre off and checked for any sharp objects in the rim but nothing!

It holds pressure for around 2 minutes, then blows a hole in it. Anybody got an idea of what it can be? Im going to ring ribble again tomorrow and put a big complaint in

Is your tube puncturing in the same place relative to the valve?

The grinding sound may just be an over-tightened hub - back the pre-load off a touch and see if that cures it.

Freehubs usually have sealed bearings so I can't see how muck can have got in there.

Is the puncture from the rim or the tyre? That is from above or below, it may narrow down your search as to what is the cause.

You can't really blame Ribble for the punctures - clearly you have not got out whatever is causing them - likely a shard of glass/sharp grit/tiny thorn/bit of metal in the tyre - you need to inspect it more closely!

i've not bought a bike off the shelf for a long time...do you get a warranty?..i don't know.if so...take it back and get the wheel replaced:smile:
Normally frame and forks...other stuff maybe, maybe not, depends on the retailer. For wheels etc, it might be down to the manufacturer whoever that may be.
It seems many retailers / manufacturers offer short warranties even on frames to keep product costs down

I have read your post and don't see why Ribble can be at fault for the punctures. You rode for 2 months with none then suddenly they start to occur - you say you have checked for sharp objects in the tyre and looked at the rim but really - how well. Is the puncture on the outside or inside of the tube - outside and it just aint their fault at all -it's in the tyre. Inside and it's something in the rim tape. If there is nothing in the tyre nothing in the rim tape and no big bits of alloy from the wheel poking into the tube then it won't pop - simple.
