Giro has always been "variable" weather, a bit early in the year to go playing in the Alps. Why they don't stay more southerly (money I guess) and not have to amend/cancel stages has always been a question. Then again, it's Italy...
Not all, but the Appenine chain has some interesting climbs. For someone who was never a climber the south/midlands of Italy are much better! Horrible day today, what a chilly finish. Nibali looks like he has this by the short and curlies, just needs a good TT and the job could be done. Cuddles is the real danger, can't see Rigoberto doing anything that will get the best end of 3 minutes back, unless Nibali has a disaster along the way.
