When you see this sign - do you find that oncoming cars will ignore the fact that you're a vehicle and come on through regardless of you. In most cases there's plenty of room for a car and a bike so it doesn't bother me that much but what do you do?
I'm thinking maybe I should move into the middle of the road to 'enforce' the sign leaving no room for a car coming the other way, hence making them stop and wait as they should.

What do you think?

I think you might get run over.

There are plenty of nutters out there, remember Kenneth Noye? Smile, nod to them and carry on enjoying your ride. The few seconds you lost by holding back will never matter.

You should weave from side to side with your knees and elbows stuck out like a circus clown.

The law is on your side, make the most of it....

In a lot of cases there isn't enough room (chicanes). I tend to take a primary... but that won't stop people driving at you.

It's what you should be doing really, from personal experience there may be room to FIT a bike & car in close proximity but if the driver makes a miss-judgment you're the one who they're going to plough through. Now one thing you must do is make sure you have an escape route planned else you could end up on the bonnet of an arrogant twats vehicle.

When I'm on my motorbike, I get cars driving directly at me through those things. What chance have any of us got on bicycles?!?!?!

I did stop one woman when I was on my motorbike and I asked her "WTF are you doing?". She said, "You're only a motorbike, you can go to one side".

*CLONK*

(Sound of my jaw hitting the floor).

I tend to find that cars will stop and give way to me if I have priority.
But then again I'm rideing a recumbent trike which is about 3'6" wide, so I take up a lot more road than a standard bike .......

Luck ..........

I have a pair of these on the hill leading down from where I live. So far so good.
Down hill I take primary. Always a concern because if they come I'll be going through their screen.
Up hill I only come this way after a late shift -2300 or 0300 ish so very rarely a chance of conflict

Weirdly I was waived through one of these junctions today when I didn't have priority. If that wasn't strange enough, I was waived though by a guy in an Astravan!

In general I leave room for the car coming the other way if there's enough space for me to feel safe, but ride in primary otherwise. Doesn't stop them coming straight at me sometimes though

Erm.... if out on the road bike I'll encounter these lanes or indeed roads where cars park on one side....

I'll take on a Landrover no problem.......... done it often........ on occasion, I am in a clear lane going one way....., there are cars parked in Landy's lane, he charges up on my side of the road as I am coming down a hill at speed..... who moves..............????

I didn't............. sh1t the driver up, then snook down his left.....FFS.....

Who has the bigger 'ball bearings' .... well his wheels do......

It's a rectangle, so it's information. Not an absolute right. If you encounter another vehicle you should still asess if it is safe to continue.

You should still assess whether it's safe to continue but the sign is telling you something else on the road. The white lines actually tell you give way/priority etc. Two dashed thick lines on your side means oi, stop you have to give priority to someone coming the other way.

I find that these signs in areas where driving is bad people will behave badly and where it is good they'll usually wait. I saw a car zoom through one in a 20 zone the other week with a child cowering at the side of the road trying to cross.

Just to confuse the issue further, around here some of the pinch points have crappy little slots full of road debris which are supposed to be for bikes. I dont use them but much but it is a bit of a thing as the oncoming driver may assume I will.
