If you thing you can do a chargeback on a bar transaction with no till receipt etc then you are a bigger fool than you appear.

If they insist on card only I'll either walk out or insist on a receipt, so I can check and question it if necessary there and then. How many popped up customers get a 0 added on their, for example £10.00 card swipe transaction?! Not only pubs, but I ask for a receipt for all card transactions.

I did that recently, or rather I threatened the pub that I would initiate a chargeback, and they stumped up.

And the payment terminal should have a screen that clearly displays the amount to be paid so you can check before paying.

All the terminals I've seen are similar to these with the card's chip reader being just above the screen - why would you have to ask to look at it?
