I bought Mrs SJ a set of frying pans.

Seriously; That's what she wanted when I asked her. Two years ago I bought her a set of saucepans, again at her request. We do tend to buy each other practical stuff for Christmas (The personal presents are on birthdays).

Dave, I am sure you love your wife, and respect her.

But I mystified by this (and many other posts I see on cyclechat), why do you think it's funny to pretend you are going to ruin her Christmas?

We are not all blokes her, it isn't just bantz. These posts make me (and I know other female CC members) think less of the posters.

(maybe men too, but I don't have intel about that)

It does come across as a bit old stylee 'Les Dawson' sometimes.

Next it'll be mil jokes.

Yes on one level its just a bit of fun.

But it does also perpetuate the idea that women are a bit of a nuisance, and its ok to disrespect them.

On other outdoor themed forums you will often hear guys going on about getting a 'pass out' to go on a trip.

As if they are imprisoned against their will, in some dreadful domestic situation, which they never signed up for.

Not in truth two grown ups, living together , often with children, who have ( or should have) shared and equal responsibilities, and rights.

I think the truth is , from what I've observed, that women very often get a lot less leisure time of their own, or spare cash to spend on it.

Ok shall we resume funnies now ..? ^_^
