Hi,

I'm looking for some sunglasses to wear whilst out on the bike, problem is I'm short-sighted, so would need something to get something to take a prescription lens. Any ideas? I can't be the only four-eyed cyclist?

Cheers.

Optilabs specific prescription cycling glasses.

A great service and one of the best cycling related products I have ever purchased.
May be a little expensive for some, but worth every penny imo.

Cheers guys, I have tried contacts but I have trouble with keeping one side in, it falls out. I don't mind investing in a quality pair but I don't really want to pay £300+ if I can help it. I'll look at the other suggestions now. Thanks again.
Just remember that you are after some sunnies for cycling as well as looking cool down the pub. Oakley lenses will not shatter if you have an impact and are made of stern stuff.

I had a bit of a John Cleese moment a few weeks ago and left some half jackets on the roof of the hire car that I was driving and drove off. Sure enough, went back the next day and the frames were in bits but the lenses intact. Heavily scratched being run over several times but still intact.

Choice is yours though.
The glasses will be solely used for cycling, so not too concerned about looking cool. I take your point about the Oakley's being made well but I'd just rather spend £300 elsewhere. I knew I'd have to spend more for prescription cycling sunnies but can't you get something cheaper but still fair quality without spending £300? Maybe £150?

Many sporting glases are made with lenses that don't shatter.

+1 for those, I'm still wearing a pair I got nearly 10 years ago. I bought photochromic lenses and I find them very slow to react (even for 9+ year old technology), but optically and price-wise they were and still are excellent.

Personally I think most Oakley frames are ugly lumps of plastic.

I'm not keen myself and I'm just after functional glasses that make me see, keep the flies from my eyes and of course filter the sun. I'll check out your link now. Thank you.

I don't know. I don't care to test my expensive lenses in such a manor.

All I can say is that they have taken some heavy knocks, including being in several crashes and not once have my lenses been damaged.
Why not? I did with my half jackets and now have proof that the lenses can lie on a road for roughly 26 hours, get run over by a multitude of road vehicles and yet the lenses are still intact.

Either make the same sacrifice for the greater good at having some sound cyclist eye protection advice to dispense to your fellow cyclists or shut up.

You can document it on your camera. Vauxhall bridge will he a good test site, plenty of freight and you can get the thamez in the backdrop.
