Precautions against rust

No, haven't used it -as you say, expensive (over £30 for a litre). I go through a fair bit of GT85, as I generally prefer using it to clean the bikes rather than water.

I don't own a car any more-well not a road going one anyway. Down to one car household now. I just find driving on the roads these days no fun.

I use a Marin Hybrid as a commuter and it is essentially a ride and forget about it bike. I lube the chain every fortnight or so - even if it's been raining, wash it every 6 months whether it needs it or not. 3 years of ownership and I haven't seen any sign of rust at all. I do give it a once over before a big ride, though.

It seasy. Replace all the steel bits with non ferrous, chemically stable materials such as titanium, platinum, gold and such.

Yes, but considerably cheaper than some Carbon frames I've seen
