My wife wanted to try SPD's, so I duly changed her pedals and fitted the cleats to her shoes. Only when she couldn't unclip wobbling towards a junction, followed by an emergency trip to Evans, did it transpire I had fitted the cleat on one shoe the wrong way up. The side that has a countersunk section for the bolts was facing the sole of the shoe, meaning the cleat became locked and needed wrenching off the pedal. Whoops...

Haha. You've no idea how ironic that is; I work in the insurance industry! And alas, Mrs GF is undertaking temporary work before he PhD which means no permanent contract perks for now.

It was an interesting moment as I was screaming at her to grab the telegraph pole next to her before she toppled over though...

just got me a chain tool to split the chain and decided to give it a go and learn how to. Result? quick link is broken, bike is without chain now until tomorrow because halfords doesn't have quick links on stock
