Just checking my bike over today and noticed one of the spokes have popped out. Not too sure when this has happened but it has to have been some time after last Tuesday (12/10/2015).

Tomorrow I have a ride planned and just wondering If its still ok to ride on the 35 spokes until Wednesday when I can get it repaired. (phoned it in already).

I'd use it to get you home, bit no more. Too many variables to reassure you it'll be ok for sure.

Why not just fix it?

Front or rear wheel? If rear wheel, right or left side. If right side then it's best to repair it before your 35mile ride, unless you are at least 80kg or less and the wheel was well built in the first place. If wheel is one of those stock wheels that come with new bikes then I wouldn't trust it.

A 36 spoke wheel has plenty to share the load so assuming it still runs true or thereabouts I wouldn't be overly concerned. I've rode with a broken spoke for a fair few miles with no adverse effect.

It still runs true, and I could have easily done 50+miles on it broken . Was just having a moment once I had noticed it. Trying 60miles tomora didn't want it spoiling my day out

If it's any reassurance, I used to ride for weeks on wheels with broken spokes, but I am a bit of a div. Once I'd got to three I'd take the wheel to be fixed.

I use better wheels now, and haven't bust a spoke in a couple of years.

I cannot see that a single spoke would cause any problems. Went out on a MTB ride and broke one at the start of a 28 mile hard'ish ride, I was 16 stone at the time without issues. But then I had no choice but to carry on.

Well I went and got it sorted. Was done at Halfords as they were the only ones that could fit me in real quick . £11 and the guy did a good job even cleaned up the rear cassette making it all shiny again. Had some nice compliments on my bike too so happy days on my half.

The bike did seem fine on way to the shop to be fair with me 18st + 9kg of gear and I could have easily done 50+miles on it broken.

I will now be looking up how to repair them.

At that weight you would not be doing your wheel any favours by riding it with a broken spoke for 50 miles. The 9kg, assuming on rear panniers would be directly above the rear wheel and that is more damaging than if you were 9kg heavier.

Having it fixed first was a smart move.
