The Sprinter is now on sale for 2013. Now in it’s third year The Winter Sprinter is the perfect ride to ease you nicely into the event season. We have a choice of two routes on the nice Cheshire roads to suit riders of all abilities. This event WILL sell out as entries are limited to 300 and we do not accept any entries on the line.

The price has been put up for 2013 but we are confident that we are still THE best value events in the UK and we definitely offer the best grub as we have now got a Masterchef finalist doing the catering.

It's £25 and you get all your food, drink, a CNP nutrition pack worth £20 plus post ride massages and of course loads and loads of cake.

More info is here: http://polocini.com/cyclosportives/2013-events/wintersprinter/

Bit flat no?

Looks good though, I hope the event is enjoyable for all involved. However I will not be signing up, I ride these roads 2-3 times a week so not keen on paying £25 to do as I probably will be doing anyway.

Rob3rt, I know exactly what you mean. I only try and do events on roads I don't know. However without sounding like I am full of myself, our events have a bit more of a community feel and are more about the day out with other cyclists than the usual sportive crap. I've been forced into putting the price up this year which isn't good as I don't believe any sportive should cost more than £20. But then we limit numbers to 300 max. We could sell more places and make it cheaper but then it loses the atmosphere.

I've been on 2 polocini rides this year and both have been excellent  But i think you're being harsh saying "the usual sportive crap" as i have also took part in a fair few sportives this last year and never been on a bad one. I don't particularly think any one sportive ride has been any better or worse than any other.
Personally, i appreciate the effort you lads do planning really good routes so keep up the good work

Lets just hope for some reasonable weather

Hahaha.

It's a Polocini event..... There will certainly be weather, probably lots of it :cold: :rain:
I'll be in on Payday. Don't think Mrs Kes will make it - she's still not walking after the last Polocini event in June - not I hasten to add due to any fault of Allen and the guys at Polocini who know how to organise a cracking event (just not decent weather).

Kestevan- the weather jinx was broken (I hope) with the Rivi 100!!! I did text you a few weeks ago to ask about Andrea. I hope her recovery is on track???

Billy- my comment does sound a bit harsh but I am just a bit jaded with sportives. I think a lot of sportives have no atmosphere at all. Personally I find audaxes and events that are run by clubs are the best. I am a tight sod as well and don't like paying some of the daft entry fees.

This may potentially be my first sportive...
It depends on whether a road bike is required...
I started cycling a couple of months ago (actually 4 - blimey, time flies), and still have a LONG way to go in loosing weight and gaining fitness.
My plan at present (and its going to plan so far) sees me hitting weights suitable for a road bike sometime around June, so when this comes around, I'll still be on my hybrid.
Are hybrids allowed/feasible at these events?

Yes, it is a sportive, you can ride a Raleigh Chopper if you are bonkers enough! Riding a hybrid is fine and a perfectly feasible way of getting round.

Depends what you call a suitable weight for a road bike. I've been riding road bikes while weighing in at twenty five stones and I am currently down at twenty one and a half stones and still getting the miles in - usually sixty two or more at a time as I do a 100km audax most weekend when I am not cycle touring.

Blimey. In roughly the same position. Last January I was just over 23st, and now I'm 20st. When I went bike shopping, I noticed that some hybrids quoted 120kg as max weight, and bought the Trek because it quoted 136kg. I just assumed those spindly little road bikes would have a much lower weight limit!
