Are we talking about just road racing, or as I've read this evening all sport on the road? About the middle of last year I heard that time trials were under threat in Wales because of a police issue.

If this covers all cyclesport on the road, that's the end of TLI, CTT, and triathlon unless fees go up to cover the events. Realistically it couldn't happen for the latter two.

[aside] Personally I think CTT should be absorbed into BC. This would mean we all race under BC/UCI rules with a standardisation of equipment and position regulations throughout the entire TT calendar [/aside]

I think that could be the masterplan but cost availability of marshalls etc. could be a real issue its bound to cut events across hte board and where will the police stop with this ?

I believe triathlon in Wales already use the NEG - which in itself gives the lie to only BC-insured events permitted.

Why do you think this costs more? Get yer clubmates trained up and accredited - simples.

Seems to me a good idea to make road racing safer from cars.
