What does the Welsh police decision to prosecute race organisers for obstruction unless the events have BC stewards in attendance, mean for road racing is this going to spread across the country, and how will it effect other events.

I haven't read the full story so can't really comment but from what you've said it sounds a bit ominous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So does anyone who knows what's going on here want to enlighten us as to what this is about?

It would be nice to know :bravo:

Obviously lukesdad and Dave5N have radically different takes on the matter, which only teases us further!

Come on Dave 5N .You criticize lukes Dads post as factually incorrect and unbalanced then tell us nothing at all.

Right ive contacted my mate who seems to know quite a lot about this.( can t understand why its not front page news in CW I wonder why ? )

Apparently no races can be run without BC trained outriders. Effectively stopping any non BC events. As supply of these outriders is limited and I assume BC want to kkep them to themselves as they trained them. Sorry but how is this a good thing ? I think I know where this is going to lead.

Last week there was ameeting between all Chief counstables across the country and they have agreed to extend this to all road based events.

Thats my info. correct me if Im wrong If I am I apologise.

The police in Wales won't permit road racing without Accredited Marshalls. This is a good thing - in Wales Accredited Marshals have the legal power to stop traffic - obviously this makes the race much safer.

They're not necessarily BC Marshals, but Cycling Wales is running training schemes I believe.

The NEG (National Escort Group) also have accredited marshals - this effectively allows a rolling closure.

It was in last week's CW. Only BC races will be sanctioned and they must have motorcycle escorts trained and supervised by the police. The article implied this would cascade over into the rest of UK.

I am not certain how this will affect local events. For example, I was a marshall in a car for a local event last autumn. We did not use motor-cycles, just 4 cars.

I was under the assumption that BC only had the a accredited marshalls and the NEG were part of BC.
