Babylon 5 was always conceived as a 5-year story arc. JMS initially pitched the series to Paramount in the late 1980s before Warner Brothers picked it up, with the pilot episode "The Gathering" being show in February of 1993.

DS9 started airing roughly the same time, and started out as more or less one-off episodes that gradually became more arc-y. There are a lot of similarities between the Dominion War in DS9 and the Shadow War in B5.

I always loved B5

but it has aged worse than the Star trek stuff

never really watched DS9 - probably should as the only ones I have seen are from the start and before the long term stuff started

Now I really want to see the Swiss version of last of the summer wine .
I saw that scene in Last of the Summer Wine being filmed, I was in the queue of cars that they stopped whilst the camera rolled.

's funny, I find that Trek (TNG especially) has aged worse in some ways. I think the big difference between B5 and Trek is the budget - ergo I kind of ignore the cheap ratty B5 sets and just lose myself in the storytelling.

B5 came in under budget per episode, Trek always ran over, sometimes majorly.

Having said that, I do enjoy both, but B5 is where I'm at.

Bit chilly I'd suggest!
Hypothermia is but one way that vehicle could kill you...
You feel cold, pedal a bit faster/harder.
Simple really.

TBH that's one of the things I like about B5; Straczynski sat down and thought about how to make a grand story on a budget, by designing sets that could be re-used within the context of the story and contingency plans so that the story could continue even if something went wrong, and built the story on his characters rather than visuals or sfx.

That said, a remake with modern graphics and a GoT/Mandalorian budget would be pretty cool...

Nah - I think the time is past

At least - it would take a damn good writer and director
partly because the "what the hell is that stuff we can;t see" factor will be gone

but I suppose it could be done - maybe

Nah - I think the time is past

I don't think so.

Because it would allow an exploration of what seasons 4 & 5 *should* have been like had Warner Brothers not swung the axe halfway through season 3... There's a heck of a lot that was glossed over, such as some of the goings on back on Earth and the Minbari Civil War. The latter got *badly* short-changed and was covered in just two episodes (Rumours, bargains & lies and Moments of Transition). And let's face it, one can *never* have enough of John Vickery as Neroon...
