Just took delivery of a lovely new POC Crane MIPS which I thought was a half price bargain from E-Bay UK. It looks great, fits great and looks cool. Soon after cutting off the sales tag I noticed that under the internal chin strap there is a sticker that says SAMPLE ONLY NOT FOR SALES. I was straight back onto the retailer who has in fairness promised a refund. I am wondering though are such promotional helmets compromised in any way in terms of safety or their effectiveness? The helmet certainly appears to be perfect in every aspect. I would rather pay full price for a product knowing that it is the genuine article and that my safety isn't compromised, but wonder if you guys have any experience of this? Thanks. Bill.

A sample should be quite close to the item for sale. The thing is that you cant tell how much post development occured after that sample. I am guessing not a lot if a retailer has it. Also he may have got it on the basis of a larger stock order so it could be the finished article.Given you got it for safety I would get a 'proper' version.
