Thats amazing Colin .I would have guessed a much bigger difference.Have to admit that maths never was my best subject

If you had an appallingly nasty hill which was 20% for 5 km (which we don't in the UK), the difference would be about 101 m, but even that is only about 2% out.

I think that bikehike is accurate when it gets the proper data, but looking at a lot of the roads I following on hybrid view, quite a lot of them aren't nearly as direct as the map shows.

I was more talking about this in Whittlesford. Also if you follow Newton Rd as it goes north east it gets out of sync with the road.
