Only one issue I have with your points beardy:
5. Rim-braking in the wet will likely result in death - Use your legs, and the brakes. Rim brakes have been around for years, and I don't think that using them in the rain is the No. 1 killer of UK cyclists.

It's more that the rims are painted and afaik aren't a proper braking surface.

I'm confused then.

Which bit is wrong?

Maker: Fuji
Model: Track 2.0
Category: Road Bike

With that info is it a Fuji fixed gear road bike called a Track 2.0?

Why does the spec say it has brakes and levers? Is the gear inches available really enough to make it a track contender?

I know nothing about track cycling. I'm just asking some questions.

Actually it does, and comes with a pair of tektro calipers!

My company are currently re-assessing the cycle to work scheme, and looking into alternatives. Once they've sorted all that out, it's time to think seriously about it ...

Until then, I need to hassle the ebay vendor I bought a track wheel off last week who still hasn't got back to me.
Evans are starting to piss me off. Why do they post pictures of bikes which actually won't look like that. They do it with the langster which also shows no brakes.

The rims look like they have a braking surface to me, its been painted over, you could carefully remove the paint with some wet and dry on the braking surface. The brake pads will make short work of that paintjob anyway. The anodising on my Mavic Ellipse front didnt last long with brakes. It's part of life.

I cant tell what rear cog it comes with, but with a 48 tooth chainring it will likely come with a 15t cog, maybe a 16t. 48:15 would give ~85" which would be okay for riding track, people typically run 85 to 100+"

One thing I hate on that Fuji is a non aero seatpost when it has an aero seatube, it looks sh*t, same for the Dolan Track Champion.

They all do it TBH - I believe those are the pictures Fuji provides. Evans then fit brakes because they are legally obliged to.

Shame they won't sell them for cheaper without, as I have a 105 caliper I could pop on. Although I guess those Tektros probably cost them 10p.

The Fuji Track 1.0 has a full aero seatpost, but it puts the saddle at a height I think I'd struggle to ride comfortably off track!

You cut the seat tube down so its roughly the right height, then the seat clamp allows a small amount of adjustment for fine tuning.

My Fuji Track bike (which i recently sold) came without brakes, from Evans.

If it's sold as a track bike then they don't have to put brakes on it.
