Plastic (tupperware type) containers with lids that WILL NOT fit

I'm rather partial to the tubs from the O Mamo! vegetable salad that's sold in the Polish aisle in the supermarkets. Not microwaveable, but great for keeping leftovers and those half lemons and half onion that's a pain to wrap in cling film. And for batches of tomato sauce intended for the freezer as well as receptacles for homemade ice cream.

I do have some microwaveable ones as well. In fact I have an unopened package of them, bought in Wilkinsons.

I feel your pain. Mrs Crank is a hoarder of these things. Many times I go to get the frying pan out the cupboard, and a heap of the buggers, tubs and lids at random, come crashing out. I eventually reach breaking point and sling a load out for recycling.

I worked at a place that made them, millions of the things. Their brand was 'Pink Apple' but they had a bunch of 'fakes' that were crap stored in a section of factory whilst they took court action under copyright law on the fakers.

I'd be interested to know which supermarket has a Polish aisle

If they're Chinese takeaway tubs ( which I love for their multiple uses), we usually have no problems matching because either, we always generally use the same takeaway or, they don't generally change their tub type.....
We do have the odd o es that re surface occasionally.

I learned many years ago that these containers are best stowed with the lid on. It also limits the number you can keep to a sensible level

Makes sense from a material point of view
but from a storage point of view having all the bottom inside each other (stop sniggering at the back!!!) and the lids under them takes up far less room
I still want to know why the ones you pay good money for change shape/size
but the cheap "single use" ones from the Chinese take away last for years
and still fit

That's what i used to do, but got sick of trying to find the matching lids, hence stowing them with the lids on. I have about ten, half of which are in the freezer with homemade ready meals in them.
