It used to be horrible. But last year it was taken over by one of the dads from my rugby club. Been refurbished. Good service. Turned into a Rugby Pub. Really nice atmos now.

My local previously was the Vic on the High St.

Yup was going to suggest the Vic. I used to live just 2 doors along from the Black Lion - Landlords a bit of a character but it was an OK pub for an occasional beer.

Off to New Zealand tomorrow for a couple of weeks. Not much cycling though, apart from spending Tuesday wobbling around Marlborough vineyards on mountain bikes. Spending the rest of the time tramping and kayaking. And drinking. Which for an old puffed out flubba-wubba like me is obviously the main highlight.

I'm spending the weekend mostly being up and down about whether the offer we've made on "our" house will be accepted ... we should hear on Monday. I might manage a spin on the bike on Saturday, and on Sunday, Ms RT is teaching me how to ring birds. "Why, on their mobiles of course!" I hear you chorus.B)

Hilly 30 miler over into Ripponden, up across Saddleworth Moor, drop down into Denshaw and then back home.

For anybody local to here you will know Elland Road out of Ripponden and what a beast of a climb it is.

Going to book a birthday party for daughter #1 tomorrow morning then off to Richmond (the N. Yorks version) for a potter round the town and a spot of lunch. Daughter #2 has just turned 1 and you can never be 100% certain she won't decide to chuck her food around. Makes life interesting B). Hope to get back to watch England vs Australia rugby in the afternoon.

Out on the bike on Sunday. Hope it is better weather than last week.

And the nights are drawing in and it's getting cold up there in "the shire." :?:

The cardboard boxes she's been lying in are needed back at the factory - please hurry!
