If yours are knobblies then they could be Houffalize Noodley, mine were.
I've got them in mind for getting riveted for next winter.
which got me thinking it was a good idea if next year is as bad as this.

But having seen what is involved I reckon I'd end up ruining the tyres  and turning the air blue - and it'd probably cost as much as buying new tyres (although I have not looked at prices)

So what do the panel think - viable option or keep them as they are and get another pair of riveted tyres if required (any suggestions as to what riveted tyres if this option seems better?)?

I priced it up at under fifteen quid for 200 stainless rivets from RS Components.

It depends on the size and I'm not sure about that yet, it might be more or less.

I reckon it will be a bugger to do, it might be a good job for sitting out in the sunshine pottering away this summer.

Could you not convince or bribe the mini Noodleys to do it as an educational project?

How to do it.

That's the link I looked at before posting the question - the Noodlettes would make an arse of it just to annoy me; they do likewise with everything else

So I'll just pop them in the post?

Do you need to use new / decent tyres? Do you need a good tread as well as the studs?

The guide says this
-- I got some off the used rack at my local bike shop. You want tires with some good tread to propel you in snow -- the rivets will help with ice and strong hardpack..

You'd have to judge the donor tyres against what you'll be doing with them I guess.

I did idly wonder if something creative could be done with self-tapping screws through from inside the tread, and a layer of gaffer tape over the screw heads. Bit ouchy if you run into someone I suppose, but being hit by my bike and 100 kilos of fat b@stard isn't going to enhance your day anyhow.
