Win Hill and Lose Hill in background!
Nope they are off to the left of the photo. The foreground hill is Crook Hill, with Bridge End Pasture behind

you will have to report back when you have done a few miles on it, as i was going to buy a defy 5, 4 or 3 but then i was going to go for a cheap carbon but still brand new but then a member on here recently sold a scott speedster 2009 model with 105 groupset for £200 so i bought that and it arrived today

it is the 2015 defy 5 sorry, sounds like you got yourself a good desl on that bike, I personally wouldn't buy a full carbon bike new or second hand, these "normal" road bikes are stuff enough and light enough for the average joes around,it's really only bragging at the cafe with your erection showing that make them worth buying! (My thoughts anyway) for what I want to do/acheive the defy is more than capable.

oh yeah, no doubt this will be fine but i still wouldn't mind having a nice carbon. even though i always say speed has never been my strong point or what i focus on but my stamina is great, carbon is for speed not longer distance generally

I can understand why you would want one, they're very nice to look at and they can weigh nothing. I don't really know anything about road bikes other then carbon is very expensive.

You're quite right about that. You'll only see the advantage of a super light carbon number if you're going for high speeds, and / or long distances (when the lack of weight is a godsend) if you just use your bike for leisure riding / short commutes, then there really is no big advantage to having a carbon bike.

You'd see a difference on the first climb, and every climb thereafter.
