My sister gave me her husband's bianchi and it is too big for me. I am 62 and want to start riding again, what advice on a bike could someone give me or am I too old????

What sort of riding do you do - are you looking for speed, comfort, off road, on road?

If mixed riding, with some rougher stuff and you are not fussed about speed, how about something like a Specialized Ariel? How big are you? You may be better looking at a men's bike f larger (at 5'10 I find womens' bikes too small)

Do you have a budget? If say around £300, rather than £450+, the Carrera Subways from Halfords have a good rep (unlike the retailer). Also, go to your local bike shop and see what takes your fancy in your price range

No, you're not too old.

I turned up at a sportive earlier this year, saw one bloke who must have been in his late 70's!

My mother in law rode her bike round town into her mid 70's too.

not too old at all, you're never too old to ride, just go to your local bike shop and try out a few that you feel comfortable with, financially and comfort wise and there you go, good luck and let us know how you get on

Hi Betsy,
:welcome: Nah you're never too old, not for anything. Especially riding a bike.

Good advice about your local bike shop. Have a think about what kind of riding you might enjoy now too.

Thanks for all of your replies!! I haven't been to bike shop yet, hope to do it next week. Do hope they take trade-ins as that would help!! I am just planning on riding pretty much flat trails as I live in Kansas which is a flat state.

Good luck with the cycling.

If it is a nice bike you would probably best to try selling it here on the for sale section, some bianchi fan will no doubt snap it up .

Not too old at all, slowly but surely and you will get there, build up the miles and don't worry about speed.
