I've ordered a SIM card from ASDA and I'm going to used the £5 bundle - 250 minutes/unlimited texts/no data. Top up by direct debit and the minimum top up is £1. Credit rolls over providing that you make at least 1 call or text in 180 days.
This seems to be the easiest and cheapest option around.
