One can only hope he gets serious diet advice once his career begins to taper off.

I think this is an issue for some elite sportsmen and women. They are so used to the regime of training and eating that when they stop competing they can very easily pile on weight. Mind you a lot of the time they simply become "normal" but it still looks odd when one is used to them being ultra lean and fit.

I'm not too sure that's quoted right..

That's a pretty carp diet for an athlete, but....he is a short distance athlete - i.e simple sugar fueled... and he does/did have ADHD as a kid...so....... don't try this diet as a cyclist.....REALLY..............

Whilst the diet doesn't seem "healthy", break it down into it's major componants, Carbs,Protein and fat, it's probably just what he needs to eat to give him 10-12000 cals per day in a concentrated and easily digested form. If his diet was alfalfa sprouts, wholemeal bread made from flour ground on the thighs of midwestern virgins, bananas, porridge and fruit smoothies the guy would never stop eating except for long enough to go for the numerous shoots he would need to take.
He seems to look well on it.

Having said that, 10,000 cals is only 24 pot noodles, so where's the problem?

When I was younger there was a guy at karate who did a lot of body building, his nickname was Rodger Ramjet. I saw him a few years later, after he'd packed it all in, and he'd turned into a lard ball! It was quite shocking.
