In the past week about a dozen doctors have told my daughter she should have worn a helmet when she came off her bike. I think they must have been suggesting she wore it over her face and chin because those were the areas damaged, not the places where one normally wears a helmet. I doubt they have ever told a pedestrian or motorist with head injuries, of whom they see massively more than cyclists, that they should have worn a helmet. Sometimes you have to wonder what planet some medics are on.
