Hi Guys,

I recorded the heart rate and other stats on my commute home tonight(first day ever commuting completed )

I was wondering if anyone else who uses it wouldnt mind giving me some feedback on its stats, specifically heart rate and the max heart rate increase and recovery rates, also the calorie rate seems a bit suspect but it could be accurate as my average rate was just under 160 for the whole ride.

More stats be found my scrolling down the window with performance section on the right hand side.

stats can be found here

I am around 22 stone in weight and 40 years old and using a hybrid with Marathon plus tyres.
I have a relatively good level of fitness (from 2 gym sessions a week which i stopped a few months ago).

Cheers

Absolute HR values tell you nothing useful. Unless you know your true MHR, the figures are about as useful as any arbitrary numbers plucked from thin air.

yea, i totally agree.

I am not using the stats as a hard and fast rule, but more as a baseline so i can compare in say a month or so to see how much fitter/faster i have gotten compared to my older runs.

Forget the "stats" get used to riding and your route, learn good bike handling, pedaling technique and the art of not getting knocked off etc.
If you want something to aim at, then look at the overall and average time taken or the time up a hill, but at this stage getting used to the effort of commuting regularly and how your body responds will be enough for a while.

The max hr might be right; I'm just a few years younger although a fair bit lighter (sorry ) and hit a max of around 185-190bpm at this time of year 190-199bpm in summer. I never pay attention to calorie calculator though as they are too random; if you are trying to lose weight Id up load the ride to Strava, Garmin Connect, RidewithGPS and any others that folk can think of and go with the lowest.

thanks guys, i am doing cycling atm to save me money and get fitter, also it gets my butt up out of bed early, rather than when i drove, where i would get in at the latest i could, now i gotta plan ahead for my commute.

I reckon its the best weather to get into cycling, as I am relatively unfit and i don't overheat in this temperature, would hate to start commuting in the peak summer.

Check it out, am a bit older than you about 21 years and i am a light weight. hope you find it helpfull.
I like to know what other people's heart rates are, but there are a few on here that are reluctant to tell you, it's not about comparing i just like to know.

great stats, yea, I have no issues sharing, as i have nothing to hide and find the more knowledge out and about, the better informed people can make themselves
