don't reload pages! Well my weight must be right i double checked it on my wii board and on some giant scales at work. 15.5 stone solid muscle!

Seriously: Be careful. Two incidents happened on climbs and the last and potentially the most serious was sprinting on a RAB. Pedal came off, I came off and car stopped inches away from my prostrate position on the road. The pedal was still attached to the bottom of my shoe.
Once - unlucky
Twice- dubious
Third - Get rid and replace with another brand

Two bikes fitted 1 x Dura Ace & 1 x Ultegra

Look pedals are very fragile. I've snapped 3 of them during riding, when getting out of the saddle. Shimano pedals are excellent.

- when was this? After the recall or before? Were the pedals part of the recalled batch? Did they have replacement axles?

edit: and did you report it to Look?

I had no idea there had been a recall. The last incident happened nearly 3 years ago, and I hadn't kept receipts so didn't report it.

My Look pedals were those that came before KEO; I don't remember the model type. So they had the same problems with Keo eh? Well there you go.

I posted my experiences on the old cycling plus forum but was met with the usual replies from Look pedal owners who swore that the pedals were OK and that it must be the way I ride etc. etc.

ok..i now have the bike and looking at pedals
I think i prefer the one sided clip ins
so looking at these shimano models
PD-A530
PD-M324

can anyone advise me the difference (apart from looks)

would like to pop a set on both the road and mountain bike..having the smaller cleats will it cause any pain on the ball of my foot...over a long distance?

Some people find that the smaller spd cleat causes a "hot spot" on the ball of the foot. However I think it's more to do with the shoe.
The off-road trainer type shoe common for spd tends to have a thinner more flexible sole designed to allow walking. This doesn't spread the pressure from the cleat as well as a more rigid sole.

Personally I use spd pedals but ride with a "touring" style shoe, which has a very rigid sole. I've never experienced discomfort (at least from the cleat) on rides over 100 miles.

The PD-A530 is lighter, if your are bothered about every extra gram you carry (some people are!) and is designed as a "touring" pedal, so should be comfortable for longer rides, certainly I have had no problems with the PD-A530.
